ADMISSION POLICY

ADMISSION POLICY FROM 1.10.07

Admissions to the school are the responsibility of the school governors, who will admit children to the school according to the following criteria:

1. Looked after children who are in the care of the local authority or provided with accommodation by the local authority.

2. Children with a statement of special educational needs that names the school in the statement.

3 Siblings of children currently in the school .Parents should note that “current” means that your older

child must still be in the school at the point when your younger child enters it.

4. Children of practising members of the Church of England at Holy Trinity Church within the Parish of Seaton Carew. Parents are asked to provide a written reference from the Vicar to support their application.

5. Children of practising members of other Christian denominations (affiliated to Churches Together in England ) who live within the geographical area of the parish of Seaton Carew. Parents are asked to provide a written reference from their minister to support their application.

6. Children whose parents wish them to be educated in a Church of England School . Distance from the school via a safe walking route will be used to differentiate children under this criterion.

7. Children whose parents wish them to be educated at Holy Trinity Church of England School and who do not qualify for admission under any of the above criteria. Distance from school via a safe walking route will be used to differentiate children under this criterion.

Applications for admission should be made according to the timetable and detailed arrangements published each year by Hartlepool Local Education Authority. Parents will be notified of the results in accordance with that published time table - usually in March of each year.

Parents have a right of appeal should the school refuse to admit your child. You should contact, The Diocesan Director of Education, Carter House, Pelaw Leazes Lane , Durham DH1 1TB who will make the necessary arrangements.

Governors may also admit children to the school at any time. To request this you should contact the Head Teacher in the first instance. Should there be space in the school the Governors will admit your child. If more requests are received than there are places available, the above criteria will apply.
