SCHOOL RULES
1. We follow instructions.
2. We move quietly and sensibly around school.
3. We keep hands feet and hurtful comments to ourselves.
4. We care for other people and their possessions.
5. We use indoor voices.
The school rules are displayed in all classrooms and are reviewed
with the children at regular intervals.
Rewarding Behaviour:
" We reward behaviour through verbal praise linked directly
to the agreed rules.
" Celebration and Collective Worship every Friday rewards
pupils verbally for outstanding achievements or contributions
to the school community.
Consequences:
Pupils are responsible for their own actions. They make choices,
of which some are unacceptable or inappropriate. We discuss behaviour
so that children know and understand why their behaviour is unacceptable
or inappropriate. We discuss the type of behaviour that we expect
or what the correct course of action should be.
Consequences for behaviour are:
1. Implementation of behaviour strategies. e.g. pointing out appropriate
behaviour of other pupil's, asking the child to return to the
task etc.
2. Spoken warning given stating clearly ' This is a warning'.
3.Time out given in class.
4. Isolation in another class.
5. Sent to Head Teacher.
6. Exclusion.
Spoken Warning:
A spoken warning will be given for low level inappropriate, unacceptable
or disruptive behaviour.
Time Out:
If a child is given a 'time-out' they will be asked to sit alone
in a designated area within the classroom for up to 10 minutes.
During @time-out' children are expected to stay in place, keep
their voice silent, think about their behaviour and why it was
unacceptable. At the end of a 'time-out' the child will be asked
to explain the reason for time out and how they can improve their
behaviour.
Time out should be recorded in the class behaviour book. If a
child has three or more 'time-outs' in a week, a standard letter
will be sent home to inform parents / guardians of behaviour.
Isolation:
Isolation follows a 'time-out'. Isolation will require a child
to work within another classroom for a minimum of 10n minutes,
maximum until the end of the session / lesson. Work will be provided
by the class teacher for the child to work on whilst on isolation.
At the end of an isolation the child will be asked to explain
the reason for the isolation and how they can improve their behaviour.
Isolation should be recorded in the class behaviour book and a
standard letter sent home to inform parents / guardians.
Children can be given an immediate isolation for:
" Refusing time-out.
" Failing to complete time-out.
" Causing physical harm to others.
" Lying
" Stealing.
Severe Clause:
A child can be sent immediately to the Head Teacher or A member
of the Leadership Team in the absence of the Head and a letter
sent home to inform parents.
" Swearing
" Bullying
" Racisit remarks
" Stealing
" Vandalism
" Failing isolation
Exclusion:
This is a last resort and will only be used in extreme cases of
persistent inappropriate behaviour where all other strategies
have failed. This may also be given for extreme behaviour causing
harm to property or person. e.g striking a teacher.
Behavioural and Emotional Difficulties / SEN:
If a child’s behaviour is frequently inappropriate, school will liaise with other agencies including the educational psychologist, Acorn Therapeutic Team, CAMH and the school nurse
