Welcome our new starters! - 15 September 2009

Welcome
Welcome to our new Reception children. They have settled in very well and are already an asset to our school community. Welcome also to our two new Year 3 pupils and our new Assistant Headteacher, Mr. Robson. They have all enjoyed their first week with us at Holy Trinity School.

Uniform
It was lovely to see everyone wearing our new uniform colour this week. The red jumpers and cardigans over the white polo shirts look very smart and they match well with the grey trousers and skirts.   It is fantastic to see a sea of red and white when the children are altogether in the hall for Collective Worship. Everyone has also made a huge effort to wear black shoes. Thank you for your support.
There are still a few children wearing old uniform colours - black trousers and blue or grey jumpers. As you replace uniform can you please comply with the new school colours. Uniform can be ordered online from School Trends at www.stparent.co.uk. Next delivery from this online system however will not be until week beginning 19th October 09.
Alternatively you can also purchase items of uniform from Kameleon, at their workshop at Unit 9, Hartlepool Enterprise Centre, Brougham Terrace, Hartlepool.
All children should bring a standard book packet, in which to carry reading books, homeschool link books, money and letters. Please purchase this from the school office, cost £3, or purchase a similar type which can easily be stored in classroom trays. We do not have the facility to store large backpacks or similar types in classrooms or corridors. Name brands should be avoided to avoid unnecessary competition.

Your child will need their own European Health Insurance Card for this visit. Applications are available from the Post Office or you can apply online.
Passport
Your child will need to be included on a group passport. Please do not arrange an individual passport especially for this visit. Further details to follow.
Donations
Thank you for the contributions already received

School Meals – Taster Sessions
Louise, the school cook, would like to invite the children to taster sessions which are to be held in the dining hall at 12.40 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The children will have the opportunity to sample food from the school meals menu which they may not have tasted or tried before. Christie and Robin, year 6 pupils, will help and encourage the children to try new foods. We will also be sampling fruit and veg, freshly grown in our school garden area. Samples include beetroot, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, parsnips, french beans etc.

Please encourage your child/ren to come along.

PFA Meeting
There will be a meeting in school of the PFA on Wednesday, 23rd September at 5.15 p.m. Please come along to offer your ideas and help for future events. Your attendance would be much appreciated.
A big thank you to the donation of £2,000 by our PFA money which has helped towards purchasing our small playground equipment, tv studio equipment and pantomime production.

Milk
We are in the process of contacting an alternative supplier of third bottles of milk for pupils. Further details will be sent out shortly.

Jewellery Policy
Can I remind you that we now have a no jewellery policy. Pupils wearing any jewellery (including ear-rings) will be asked to remove them. There are analogue clocks in all classrooms and teaching areas to enable pupils to tell the time independently. Thank you for your support.
